TOGETHER WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

  • MARBOEUF COURT: The Planning Commission voted to recommend DENIAL of this zoning request to substantially increase residential density on a lot currently zoned R-1 (one house per acre) to R-10 (more than 4 houses per acre) on a 1.1 acre lot along the marsh on Pawleys Island Creek. KIGA represented a number of neighboring landowners who vehemently opposed this including the family of Governor McMaster. There were more than 220 letters of opposition and a big crowd turned out for the hearing. This was a victory at this stage, but it still must go to County Council for a final decision. The Developer eventually withdrew the request.

  • PETIGRU & MLK: Due to strong opposition by neighbors and KIG, this developer has deferred its request to increase residential density on this property and has agreed to work with KIG and the community to find an acceptable plan. We are grateful to the developer for listening to the community.

  • COACHMAN DRIVE (Pending): Due to strong opposition by neighbors and KIG, a developer has withdrawn his request to change zoning from residential to commercial in the midst of a longstanding residential community with heirs' property to accommodate yet another storage facility. There is a related lawsuit pending whereby this developer is trying to get the right to build a road through the yards of private residences in this neighborhood to his recently acquired property. KIGA is opposing this in court.

  • PRINCE GEORGE (Pending): Lawsuit filed on January 9, 2022, against Georgetown County for granting a rezoning to double residential density near Prince George along a dangerous stretch of Highway 17 across from Hog Heaven.
